Your Downtown Guide to Miami Book Fair 2026: All Eight Days

October 8, 2026

When does Miami Book Fair start for someone who can walk or ride the Metromover to Wolfson Campus? The answer is Sunday, November 15. That's five days before the Street Fair tents open on Northeast Second Avenue, and six days before you need a general admission ticket.

The fair runs November 15 through 22, 2026, at Miami Dade College's Wolfson Campus, 300 NE Second Ave. Most coverage treats it as a three-day weekend event. For anyone who lives in Downtown Miami, it works more like an eight-day festival. The general admission ticket only matters on Saturday and Sunday, and the rest of the week fits around a normal workday.

Only Two Days Need a Street Fair Ticket

The FAQ says nearly all of the fair's programming is free. The main exceptions are some Evenings With sessions, a handful of weekend author sessions and admission to Street Fair weekend, where most of the festival's programming happens. The Street Fair runs Friday through Sunday, November 20 to 22, and Friday is listed as "Free for Everyone."

Street Fair day Hours Admission
Friday, November 20 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., gates at 9 a.m. Free for everyone
Saturday, November 21 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., gates at 9 a.m. Adult $12, senior over 62 $7, teen 13–18 $5
Sunday, November 22 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., gates at 9 a.m. Same single-day prices
Saturday and Sunday Both days Adult $18, senior $12, teen $8

Kids 12 and under get in free every day, and so do Miami Dade College students, faculty and staff with a valid MDC ID. The multiday adult ticket is $18, which is $6 more than a single day. If you're likely to come back on Sunday, the two-day ticket covers it for half the price of a second single-day ticket. If you live a few blocks away, there's another option. You can browse the exhibitors on Friday for free, then decide whether a Saturday or Sunday author session is worth $12.

The weekend floor is large. The 2026 visitor guide from Miami and the Beaches describes hundreds of exhibitors selling new and used books, Spanish-language titles and books from independent and small presses, along with readings, signings and Children's Alley. Children's Alley runs Friday through Sunday, November 20 to 22. Books for author programs are sold through Books & Books, the fair's partner, and many presenting authors have signings scheduled for Street Fair weekend.

The Five Days Before Friday

The weekday half of the fair starts on Sunday afternoon. The Miami and the Beaches guide describes a free outdoor Opening Day Party on November 15 at Wolfson Campus, with food vendors, a full bar and hundreds of books for sale. The fair's official name for it is the Opening Day Block Party.

After that, the Evenings With series fills the weeknights. As of the official schedule published in September 2026, these sessions are listed:

  • Sunday, November 15, 3:00 p.m.: Zibby Owens on Between Chapters, and, in a separate Spanish-language session, Santiago Roncagliolo with María Antonieta Collins on El pastor y los lobos
  • Sunday, November 15, 5:00 p.m.: Alex Mayyasi with Alexi Horowitz-Ghazi on Planet Money: A Guide to the Economic Forces That Shape Your Life
  • Sunday, November 15, 7:00 p.m.: Tony Shalhoub and Josie Adams on We Thought They'd Never Leave: Musings on Food and Family
  • Monday, November 16, 6:30 p.m.: Manny Diaz and Elizabeth Plater-Zyberk in conversation with Victor Dover
  • Tuesday, November 17, 8:00 p.m.: Jeff Garlin with Peter Mehlman on Best Seat in the House
  • Wednesday, November 18, 6:00 p.m.: Brad Meltzer on The Viper and Brad Thor on Choke Point, followed at 7:00 p.m. by Rick Sopher with Marc David Baer on Illuminating Scriptural Connections
  • Thursday, November 19, 6:30 p.m.: Elena Armas with Meg Cabot on Alma Vampires, followed at 8:00 p.m. by Colson Whitehead on Cool Machine, the third volume of his Harlem Trilogy

Most of these start at 6:00 p.m. or later, so you can make them after work if you live nearby. The individual event pages say a ticket is required and tell readers to check back for availability. They don't list prices yet. According to Miami and the Beaches, Evenings With prices vary, and the paid options include a copy of the featured book. Kirkus's September lineup report also lists Marlon James as a 2026 guest without giving a session date.

A Monday Night About Downtown Itself

The Monday session is the one most directly about Downtown. Its full title is "Lessons Learned the Hard Way: Growing Miami into a Livable 21st Century City," and it pairs former Miami mayor Manny Diaz with architect and urbanist Elizabeth Plater-Zyberk. Victor Dover moderates.

The topic is how Miami grew into a livable city, and the conversation takes place inside the downtown it describes. The campus sits between Biscayne Boulevard and the Metromover's College stations. If you live in a high-rise a few blocks away, many of the decisions those speakers will discuss shaped the streets you take to get there.

Getting There From a Downtown Address

The official guidance assumes a lot of people will drive in from elsewhere. If you live downtown, here's what applies to you:

  1. Metromover. Get off at College Bayside or College North. If you're coming by Metrorail, transfer at Government Center. Brightline riders can transfer to the Metromover at MiamiCentral.
  2. Free Miami Trolley. The Brickell, Coral Way, Midtown and Overtown routes all serve downtown.
  3. Ride-share. Drop-off is at the Green entrance on NE First Avenue, south of NE Third Street.
  4. Free parking. The MDC Wolfson Campus Parking Garage at 500 NE Second Ave. is free for all eight days of the fair. The entrance is on NE Fifth Street between First and Second avenues. The fair tells drivers to map to 145 NE Fifth Street, because nearby streets close during the festival.
  5. Paid garages. The closest Miami Parking Authority garages are College Station at 190 NE Third St. and Convention Center at 100 SE Second St. Both are open 24 hours and accept PayByPhone.

Plan for a bag check at the entrance. Miami Dade College Public Safety officers hand-check bags, backpacks, purses and containers, and weapons are prohibited. None of the 2026 pages we reviewed mention a re-entry policy, so check with the fair before you assume you can leave and come back on a ticketed day.

Staying After Dark on Street Fair Weekend

The Street Fair closes at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Starting at 6 p.m. on all three Street Fair nights, the Lost Chapter Lounge in Building 1 serves cocktails, bites and music with views of the downtown skyline. On Friday, November 20, the fair also hosts the Fourth Annual Next Page Dinner from 7 to 10 p.m. at JW Marriott Marquis Miami. It honors Judy Blume and the Nusbaum family.

The programs run in more than one language. The fair presents authors in English, Spanish and Haitian Creole. Its named programs include IberoAmerican Authors, Jewish Life & Culture, ReadCaribbean, ReadingEast and Off the Shelf, along with Children's Alley.

What Hasn't Been Announced Yet

As of early October, a few details are still open:

  • The Opening Day Block Party's start time, exact location and performers. The official program page says "More information coming soon!"
  • Ticket prices and room assignments for each Evenings With session
  • The 2026 fair guide. The fair's guide page still links to the 2025 version.

The fair posts schedule changes on its website and social channels. Check those before you plan an evening around a specific author.

Other Downtown Evenings Before Mid-November

You don't have to wait until November for things to do downtown. Every Friday from 5 to 9 p.m., Miami Worldcenter holds a free Night Market on its promenade in front of Club Studio, with more than 40 rotating local vendors and live music. It's run in partnership with Place Connections. Recent vendors have included Munay Matcha, Paula's Bake Shop, CONSISTENTEA and Wale Handmade. The same district hosts the Miami Run Club with Club Studio on Tuesdays at 7:15 p.m. and the Motion MIA Run Club with lululemon on Wednesdays at 7 p.m.

On Saturday, October 31, Frost Science hosts its 10th Annual Spooky Science Monster Mash, presented by the Miami DDA. It's included with paid museum admission. Between now and the fair, that gives you a Friday market, two weeknight run clubs and a Halloween night at the museum, all within a short walk or Metromover ride.

If you're new to Downtown Miami, or helping visiting family plan their week, I'm happy to share which Metromover stop and garage make the most sense from your building during fair week. Caroline Perez works with English- and French-speaking clients across Downtown, and this fair is one of the best weeks of the year to see the neighborhood up close. Let's Connect.
